Image Transmission Based on Spiking Dynamics of Electrically Controlled VCSEL-SA Neuron

Based on the spiking dynamics of electrically controlled vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser with an embedded saturable absorber (VCSEL-SA), we propose image transmission system using two unidirectionally coupled VCSEL-SAs and numerically investigate binary-to-spike (BTS) conversation characteristics performance. The simulation results show that, through injecting binary data to VCSEL-SA, BTS can be realized conversion rate highly depends injection strength bias current. Thus, in proposed system. Moreover, parameter mismatches between these have some effects performance, but encoded images are still successfully decoded even under certain mismatches. In addition, patterns also stored transmitted cascaded optoelectronic feedback loop.
